JUMBOShrimp - pop/rock
1:15 p.m. on North Stage-Railroad

JUMBOshrimp was started by founding member Tom Willette in a Herkimer, NY coffeehouse in 2001. A combination of contradictory words, Tom found inspiration for the name from the famous George Carlin comedy sketch "oxymorons". A contradiction itself, JUMBOshrimp began mostly with Tom performing solo with just his acoustic guitar. However, by the end of 2001, he would end the solo gigs and form a full band welcoming leading guitarist Mike Sanchez and percussion player John "Squishy" Kindon to the group. Over the next three years the band would quickly begin building a reputation and following playing their brand of acoustic rock throughout central New York.  A new chapter for the band would begin in the spring of 2005. Needing to relocate his family to the Rochester area, Tom bid farewell to his band mates and took the JUMBOshrimp sound to a whole new audience. Once again performing as a solo musician, Tom spent the next year trying to make his mark in the Rochester music scene. During this time he would meet drummer/percussion player Ian Cohen. Cohen, already a well established musician in the area, would strike up a musical friendship with Tom. By the end of 2006, the two would join forces to form a new version of JUMBOshrimp.  Now almost five years later, JUMBOshrimp has found its sound, its audience and its place right in the heart of the Rochester, NY music scene. Known as the BIGGEST little Band in Rochester, you won't hear a bunch of electronic gizmos or sequencers. Just two guys - guitar, drums, and vocals. All live. That's it.
